So besides chocolates and roses that are selling like hot cakes, there are many other seductive goodies that are getting popular this Valentine’s Day. In fact, e-commerce portals are doing everything they can to sell seductive lingerie, erotic books and even condoms! And no surprises there, sales for these are really soaring! "Valentine's Day has to be fun-filled and there could be nothing more exciting than surprising your partner with a pack of condoms," says Sandeep Komaravelly, head (marketing) at Snapdeal.com. The portal will sell Durex condoms online for Rs 1 today as a special offer. "The one-day-campaign revolves around celebrating the Valentine's day not only with surprise gifts, beautiful dinner, red roses but also about 'Playing it safe!'," he says.

Apart from this, sales of bags, perfumes, fashion accessories, etc have also gone up, reports IndiaTimes.com, which is the Internet arm of The Times Group. "The sales are more than twice the sales witnessed in the last season," says Gautam Sinha, who heads e-commerce and director technology at Indiatimes. The website has also introduced chocolates, designer jewelry, books and apparel for Valentine’s Day today.

Some may think that offering condoms online on V-Day may be a “disgusting idea” but others feel that it’s a good way for a brand to connect with the youth. "Valentine's Day is a benchmark for a young boy or a girl who is keen to take the plunge... I believe that selling condoms online is a great idea for a brand to connect to the youth," says a young executive.

"The response has been so good we are setting up a separate gifting section with pre-packaged packs once the Valentine's sales are done," says Supam Maheshwari , CEO of Goodlife.

One can safely say now that Valentine’s Day has got hotter in India.
